The Legend of Robert the Brave:
Long ago there was a kind man named Robert. Quiet and helpful, the villagers valued Robert, but most of the time they didn’t even notice him. Then one day the monsters came, crazed half-man half-beast mutations, they wreaked havoc on the town, a wave of death and fire. No one knows why they came or where from, but they were relentless. And suddenly he was there, quiet unnoteworthy Robert, and he was tearing through the creatures as a blade through the wind. He fought them single-handedly, dozens of nightmarish corpses laid in his wake, until it was just the two of them, Robert and the leader of the beasts. They fought for what seemed like hours and in the end, both beaten and tired they succumbed to their wounds.
All these years later the villagers still tell the story of how their ancestors were saved by a great hero named Robert. The site of that final battle is a holy shrine to them, and it’s said that the sword stuck in the mangled shape is the savior’s own weapon. Everyone who visits the shrine is welcome to try and remove the blade, legend tells that if someone ever accomplishes this then the hero would live again.
Sec had learned from personal experience that time was often the enemy of the truth and took the villager’s story with a hefty grain of salt. That said there was a very real shrine and seemingly very nice sword sticking out of the middle of it…
